Cold Coast

This project features a UE5 layered landscape material built with height blending and displacement to achieve natural transitions between surfaces. Using Unreal’s Landscape Layer Paint tools, each layer can be painted directly onto the terrain to introduce organic variation and detail.

All textures were created procedurally in Substance Designer, with custom parameters exposed to allow easy iteration and fine‑tuning. The material was inspired by a beach from my home in northern Scotland. What began as a challenge to create convincing procedural seaweed evolved into a full recreation of the shoreline.

I’m proud of the final result — several of the renders capture the look and atmosphere of the beach I grew up with, making this both a technical exercise and a personal piece.
